The sky has darkened—the sun and all the stars remain hidden all hours of the day and night. Besides the disastrous effect on the ecosystem, the constant darkness is starting to drive people mad; they start babbling nonsense prophecy until they die of exhaustion.

You can feel the darkness creeping into the edges of your vision, also—strange images flicker through your peripheral vision, and waking nightmares replace your daydreams whenever your mind wanders. And just at the edge of what you can see is a light that feels like it's boring into you. It speaks to you. You can only keep yourself from listening for so long.
